WHAT IS MY IDENTITY AS A CHRIRTIAN?

Sharing is caring!

As a Christian, understand that you are not ‘a nobody’ but someone very special both in the sight of God and humanity. As far as God is concerned, you are a new creation in Christ Jesus. Your past sins and wrongs has been blotted out without a trace. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new” 2 Corinthians 5: 17. This is what the Lord Jesus Christ came to do for you. He became the propitiation for your sins and that of all mankind. “And He is the propitiation for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for those of the whole world” 1 John 2: 2. He paid for your sins and thus, they where blotted out.

Whatever would have held you back or cause you to have an identity crisis have been removed by the new life you received when you got born again. Remember He rose from the death with a newness of life – eternal life and He gave you that life. Hence you the life that you are living now is no longer the depleted human life, but the same life that God is living. “And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life” 1 John 5: 11 – 12.

You are a new species of being now; you are no longer a man-kind but a God-kind. “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light”1 Peter 2: 9. You must therefore base up to your real identity in Christ Jesus – a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people. If you do not answer to your identity in Christ, the devil will play on your intelligent; he will boo you to think and accept what the Lord has not made.

Irrespective of the circumstance surrounding your birth, background or location, what really matters is who the Lord has made. He brought you out of the dust and set your feet on the rock to stay. “He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings” Psalm 40: 2. Until you accept what the Lord did for you and live in the reality of it, you will suffer what those who do not know their identity suffers. Forget the ugly past you had because the Lord brought you out of it over two thousand years ago.    The Lord Jesus said all those who labor and are burdened with heavy load of identity crisis, guilt of sin, oppression from the devil, and worry with cares should come to Him and He will give them rest. In other words, He will give you a new identity with peace. Interestingly, He has done all of these for you already. All you need to do is to live in that reality. Praise God. “Come to Meall you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” Matthew 11: 28.
