Top 10 Bibles Verses About Stress

According to medical professionals there is good stress and bad stress. Good stress is the one that causes you to have a fight or flight response in a potentially life-threatening situation. Bad stress is when your mind thinks that every situation is a life threatening one and makes your body respond as if it needs to fight or flight. This bad stress builds up and builds up and forms certain pathways in your brain. These pathways aren’t neat roads, no they are a mess and they make your mind a mess. You can’t think clearly when you are stressed.

That’s where the wisdom of the Lord comes in. The Bible is filled with wisdom about managing your stress levels or completely living stress free. Solomon, the wisest man to have ever lived, tells us in Proverbs to, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;” (Proverbs 3:5). Often it is our own understanding of a situation that causes us to experience the bad stress and then you cannot think clearly.

There are so many scriptures in the Bible that we can turn to for upliftment and literal peace of mind, here we give you 10 of these scriptures:

1. Philippians 4:6

In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

2. John 14:27

Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.

3. Psalm 55:22

Cast your burden on Yahweh and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved.

4. Proverbs 12:25

Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but a kind word makes it glad.

5. Psalm 118:5-6

Out of my distress, I called on Yah.
    Yah answered me with freedom.
Yahweh is on my side. I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?

6. Matthew 11:28-30

28 “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

7. Romans 8:31

What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

8. Romans 8:28

We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose.

9. James 1:12

Blessed is a person who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to those who love him.

10. Matthew 6:27

“Which of you by being anxious, can add one moment to his lifespan?

From these scriptures we can see that the Lord has everything we need to be at peace. We have access to the wisdom of the Lord. Afterall, we have “the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16) and Christ had no stress. Even when, after he had been fasting for 40 days and the enemy came to tempt him, he didn’t fumble or struggle with stress. He simply trusted the Lord and leaned on his understanding. Be encouraged that “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7) A sound mind means stress free.

So, we’d like to leave you with this prayer, may the Father “give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. … also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.” (Ephesians 1:17 – 19)
