People from all ages occasionally needs some encouragement. From the strongest to the weakest, everyone has their own struggles, their own trials. These struggles could be physical, emotional, spiritual or even mental.
You could be in the middle of a degree and you are stressed and anxious about your studies, you need some encouragement. You could be training for the Olympic games, and you have been training for the last 3 years and the games are soon, you don’t remember the last time your body didn’t ache and you desperately just want to sleep past 6 am, you need some encouragement. You could be inwardly struggling with feelings of loneliness and depression and it takes everything out of you to not fall apart every day, you need some encouragement.
That’s where the scriptures come in. God pre-empted everything that we might go through in life. He compiled the library of scripture through his Spirit for our edification. There are several encouraging stories in the Old Testament, think of the mighty Samson whose physical strength was in his long hair. But as soon as his hair got cut off, he was no longer strong, yet he was encouraged in the last moments of his life.
Be encouraged by this list of encouraging scriptures from the Bible.

Think of Daniel and his 3 friends. These four were Israelites, serving the king in Babylon. They had such wisdom and knowledge that none equalled them in the region. The king had some troubling dreams and God gave Daniel the ability to interpret them. There was such favour on them that the king’s advisors and the enchanters of his courts grew jealous of them.
So, the advisors plotted to have Daniel and his friends put to death. The first time was the when the 3 friends were put into a blazing furnace to burn to death. Yet, when the King looked he saw 4 unbound men walking around in the fire and not only 3. Then the three of them walked out of the fire completely unharmed and not even smelling of smoke.
Another time that was when Daniel was thrown into the lions den for not bowing down to an idol and choosing only to serve his God. The new king left him in the den for a whole night and the next morning went out to find that Daniel didn’t have a single scar. The lions’ mouths have been shut.
What is our take-away from this, praise the Lord and be encouraged by his Spirit because he stands with you in the fire and he calms the lions.
