If you are unfamiliar with what a children’s sermon is, this is a great page to find information and helpful tools and ideas. For those who are already familiar with sermons for children, we invite you to take advantage of our free children’s sermons. A children’s sermon is a brief time during the adult worship service that presents a short lesson for kids. The sermon often has an object lesson that shares a scripture of theme from the Bible. The one presenting the sermon often invites the children to come to the front of the church, gathering for a short period of time that is specifically for them. Questions for the children will be asked for them to answer. When the brief message is finished, the children either return to their seats, or are dismissed to Sunday school classes. Each church may have different schedules for when this part of the service takes place. Sometimes churches call this part of the service something different, such as a ministry moment, or children’s message. If you are new at being involved with children’s sermons, or sermons for children is new to your church, we know it can be intimidating. Our object lessons will help you to plan your lesson, making it less scary than having to start from scratch. After you gather your supplies and props for your lesson, take a few minutes to practice your lesson. Being unprepared will hinder your lesson from having the impact and desired results of a smooth delivery to the children. Be prepared-you’ll be glad you took the time to do so! SERMON FOR KIDS GOD'S PROMISES FULFILLED CONFESSION: The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him, and he began by saying to them, "Today, this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing." [Luke 4:20-21] Jesus is the realization of the word of Heaven. Every day, people make promises. Sometimes we give things to another individual as a symbol of our promise, and sometimes we symbol our name to cement our pledge, sometimes we only give our assurance to another individual that we're going to do something. You are young to own a credit card, so you'll still get a credit card one day. Many individuals have a credit card that they use to purchase items. You need to sign a ticket anytime you purchase things with your credit card. When you sign the invoice, you promise to pay for the things you bought with your credit card. Your signature is a promise. Every day, people make promises. Do they hold their promises? Unfortunately, certain individuals are not. God is making promises, too. The Bible is full of the blessings of Faith. Does God hold his promises? One of my favorite scriptures of the Bible is one that states, "For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. (2 Cor. 1:20) That's what our Bible lesson tells us today. On the Sabbath day, Jesus was in the city Nazareth, so he did what he should do on the Sabbath. He went to the temple. He stood up and started to read the words of the prophet Isaiah from the Scriptures. He read that it states, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to deliver the Good News to the needy. He sent me to declare that the prisoners free, that the blind will see, that the poor will be set free, and that the time of the Lord's favor has come. When he was done speaking, he stood back, and all his eyes were on Jesus. And he started to preach to them. "The verse you just learned was accomplished this very day. "Jesus came to earth to fulfill the promises of God. All the promises of God are fulfilled in him. Wouldn't it be awesome if you and I were as true to our promises to God as he is to fulfill his promises to us? Our Lord in Heaven, thank you for your faithfulness in keeping your word. Encourage us to be faithful in keeping our obligations to you. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen. A LAMP UNTO MY FEET Text: Ps 119:105; Ps 119:11 Object: Headlamp CONFESSION: Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee [Ps 119:11] We can always have a light in the darkness if we hide God’s word in our hearts. This Bible verse teaches us how to live in the Light. Have you ever walked into a dark space where there was no light whatsoever? It was frightening sort of, wasn’t it? Yet it isn't dark anymore as soon as you find the light and put it The Bible states that the word of God is like a lamp. If you don't have the Scriptures, with all the Scriptures reality, it's like living in a dark space. And you assume something terrible would happen to you. And the fact is that you will be correct. Now I've taken one of my favorite lights with me. Are you involved in seeing it? [Display headlamp]] There are two aspects of this light that I like: you don't have to catch it first. It's with your head tied. So you can do anything productive with both palms. Secondly, the light still leads to where you look. Therefore, no matter how you turn your back, the light is still there, pushing the darkness away. Now how do we transform the Scriptures like a headlamp like this? What we ought to do is place the Bible in our hearts, so that it can still come out in the dark. When we know what’s in the Bible, we don’t have to go and look it up. We can use both hands to do what God wants us to do. That's why going to church, Sunday Service, and church school is so important, where we can hear about Jesus and memorize some of the important Bible verses. When we put the word of God into our hearts, the glory of God will shine on our path, and we will find our path to Jesus, who is the glory of the universe. Where would you like to remain, in light or darkness? Let us ask God to fill our minds with His message, the Bible, and bring us to the Light of the world! WATCH YOUR WORDS God wants us to use our words to help others, not hurt them. Text: James 3, 5, 9-10 CONFESSION: But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing [James 1:4] Did you realize that your words are powerful? They might have a major influence on people. They can raise up individuals, or they can knock people down. James suggests that our tongues or our words are like a bit of a horse's mouth. Our words can benefit or harm others. We should say things that are caring, polite, kind, happy, courteous, and respectful. These kinds of terms are building people up and keeping them respectful and sweet, too. It's too bad that our phrases aren't really caring and compassionate. Sometimes our words may be cruel and unpleasant: Like when we make fun of kids at school, or call them names, or tell them to shut up, or say we don't like them, and we don't want to be a friend to them. Or even we can be arrogant to our parents or teachers: As when they ask us to tidy up our room or make our bed, and we say, "No." These kinds of words could damage people's feelings. When you utter things that hurt people, you can't take them out. The best you can do is claim you're sorry. Hurtful things are easy to utter, but they're not easy to take down. But stop and about it before you speak. Are your comments going to be constructive or hurtful? How many people would like to say phrases that motivate someone and lift them up? (Eph 4:29 Let no bad talk come out of your mouth, but just what is beneficial in building others up) CHOOSE GOD’S WAY CONFESSION: Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve…But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”[ Joshua 24:15] The most significant decision we will create in life is to love the Lord and worship him. I am so grateful that all of you have decided to come down to listen to today's children's sermon. It was a successful decision. The Bible speaks about the value of meaningful decisions being made. Every day we all make multiple decisions. We have a choice of waking up or lying in bed. For breakfast, we will pick what clothes to wear and what to eat. Before we feed, we can choose to pray, or we can choose to forget God and not thank Him for the meal. We may pick whether to do and how to do, play indoors or play outdoors. When we grow older, we will choose which college to go to, what kind of company we're going to work at, how we're going to get married, and where we're going to move. The decisions we make in life are really important, actually. They describe the type of people we're going to become. That implies the decisions that we make are decided by where we end up in life. Yet do not alter anything after you make a decision, since someone else has selected something entirely. It is important to have healthy food to consume, but not even as important as the option that Joshua set before the people in the verse we read from the Bible. He offered the citizens the alternative of either serving God or serving gods. And Joshua provided the example by deciding who he will serve with all of the people. He said, "We will support the Lord as regards me and my home." Boys and girls, today, you should make the same decision. You may continue to love God, pray to God, be grateful to God, praise God, and be faithful to God. Or you may want to bring someone else in the role of Heaven, and that becomes an altar for you. One alternative leads to existence forever; the other leads to everlasting death. How many of them like to hear what Joshua said this morning? "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” PUT GOD FIRST CONFESSION: Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed [Mark 1:35] If you start with God, your day will always be better. Ever learned about the ten commandments? Who asks what it is the first commandment? (Thou shalt bring before me no other gods.) This is God speaking, and He claims that before Him, we can have no other gods. God needs to be first in our lives, and He needs us to respect Him more than anything else. How many people will claim that they support Jesus and our great Father in heaven? Now, as Jesus was dwelling here on earth, He cherished His eternal Lord more than anything else. And one of the first ways He kept His father in His life was, to begin with, prayer each day. The Bible text we read this morning says Jesus will awaken early in the morning when it was still quiet, find a spot where He could be all alone and pray to His heavenly Father there. And so during the day, when Jesus would do good to cure others, He would pray little brief prayers to remain linked all day long with His Father. Jesus, then, created this example for us. We should place Him first in our day in order to bring God first in our lives. Some people believe they cannot afford to speak to God before the end of the day, and then they utter a prayer just before they fall asleep. Except, in the beginning, they skipped talking to God even at certain periods in the day. How do you expect God to grace your day when it's done, and be next to you? So if we're sincere about placing God first in our lives, we'll place Him first as Jesus did in our day. When we first get up every morning, we need to make a habit of praying to Jesus. GOD IS REAL CONFESSION: Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. [1 Timothy 1:17] Object: Wind up radio Although He is invisible, God is real and near to each one of us. This verse teaches us four things about God. He's timeless. That implies He has no start and no finish. God has always been and still will be. He's only eternal. That means God would never die. He eternally lives. He is invisible. God isn't like humans, physically. He is a spirit being. He is, thus, invisible to us. He's so wise. God is wiser than us by miles. He is so brilliant that, in six days, he formed the whole world! Some people now believe, because they can't see Heaven, that He doesn't exist. But there are many things that we can not see that are invisible: atoms, protons, neutrons, electrons, muons, quarks, and other subatomic particles. In fact, right here, there are things in the air that you can't see or hear, but they really are here. And this morning, I had something in my bag that will help us spot them. Who will tell me what that's like? [Radio definition.And no batteries. It's Windup. Emergencies. Hear] No, how can you think that music comes from this radio? And should we change the volume so that we can listen to several different stations? Were you conscious that all around us there are electromagnetic waves in the breeze? Invisible, they are. We can't see them or hear them, but we can sense the songs in the background whenever we turn on our radio. The same is true with cellphone contact satellite photos. All around us, there are waves filled up with information. Everything we need is a radio, a satellite dish, a TV, a mobile phone, a computer, and we can see the unseen pictures everything about us and hear the inaudible vibrations in the breeze. If we had an organ of some sort where we could see God and hear what He was doing, wouldn't that be nice? Yeah, we don't have a God-detecting machine like this, but we have something else. It is called faith. Faith starts by accepting that God exists and that His word is the Bible. How do we feel the presence of God? Because the universe exists, living things exist, you and I exist. And there’s no way that they could have created themselves. JESUS IS THE GREATEST The greatest thing we can do is tell others about Jesus CONFESSION: “John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not; He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose. [John 1:26-27] John the Baptist talks to Jesus here, as he claims that Jesus is so amazing that John is not great enough ever to attempt to untie the sandals of Jesus. Have you ever asked how it looks to be the greatest one? Anything everybody liked to do: like becoming a fantastic artist, or a fantastic pianist, a great athlete? We have always dreamed at one time or another about being the best at anything. But regarding John the Baptist, the Bible tells us: he realized that Jesus was the best. In his day, John was really famous, and people would drive for miles to see him and hear him talk. He was so famous that many people started to believe he could be the true Savior — or that he maybe Elijah or one of the great prophets who had come back from the dead. The people were assured by John that he was not Christ or perhaps one of the great prophets. He assured them he was just a man who had come to warn them of One who really was the best that was coming. He said, "The One who is coming why I am not even worthy to untie his sandals. Of course, the one for whom he talked was Jesus. Perhaps most of us would never be regarded as "the best." But we may tell others, like John, about the One That is the Best. We can tell them about Jesus. As John the Baptist saw Jesus come to him for baptism, John pointed to Jesus and called out, "Behold the Savior of God who takes away the sins of the world.” These are the things that made Jesus the greatest. He perished so that we may be forgiven for our sins. No-one else will strip away the world's sins. Like John, we can tell others that Jesus is the greatest because He can save them from their sins. I can't think of something we should do that will be better than that! How many consider Jesus to be the greatest? Let's speak the positive news to our families! LET GO OF SIN CONFESSION: Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:[1 Peter 5:8] Do you know the spiritual world is waging war? (The angels and the devils cannot be heard, so there's a fight going on there.) Jesus is a mate of yours who wishes to rescue you. Your adversary is the devil, and he wishes to kill you. And this Bible verse advises us to beware of our great adversary, the devil. He sneaks about like a lion trying to consume someone. The devil is not only consuming us today but what Peter means here is that the devil is seeking to kill humanity. The devil is attempting to convince us to turn our back on Jesus so that we wind up in the Lake of Fire with the devil. And if we're going to end up in the Lake of Fire, we're going to get burned, and that's not good, isn't it? So how is Satan trying to get us to move away from Jesus, and just obey him? He uses sin. Sin is disobeying God's commandments, and Satan is trying to make it look like if we disobey God, we'll have more fun. So he's trying to make people sin and hold on to their sin, not let go of it. For many people, he's been really popular. A number of people are addicted to drugs or alcohol, or cigarettes, A number of people lying and cheating and killing other people for money or drugs. Most individuals use foul words, hold the name of God in vain, and never go to church on the Sabbath. They're bringing music and movies before Heaven, and wealth and other stuff. And the sad truth is that they don't want to let go of their sins as they hear about Jesus while they're already in captivity with the devil. Satan attempts to force us to hang on to our sins when it is too late, and we wind up in the Lake of Fire on Satan's side. That wouldn't be terrible? How often instead try to let go of the sin and hang onto Jesus? Yes! Let’s hold onto Jesus and end up in heaven on His side. LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE Text: Matthew 5:14-16 CONFESSION: “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden [Matthew 5:14] Live like Jesus, not like the world. This is when Jesus explains something really important to His followers. He needs them to be distinct from other people who don't recognize Jesus, don't respect Jesus and don't obey Him. The light of the world is Jesus, and those who love Jesus are like a light shining in the night. And if you love Jesus, you have a light burning in the darkened world that's around you. But Jesus advises His disciples here that if you respect Jesus, you can behave like Him. Do not behave like people who don't like Jesus, who don't follow His commands, speak back to their parents or teachers, cheat, steal, or use derogatory language, or make fun of others who are different or cruel and egotistical. And it is like shielding the light that Jesus gave you while you behave like the world. Remember the song we're singing: This Little Light of Mine. Can I let it shine? One verse goes as follows: "Hide it under a bushel, no! I'm going to let it shine.' The line is taken from this Bible section. And it advises us never to cover up our light. Always behave like Jesus, never as people who do not respect Jesus do. Our light goes out as we place our light under a bushel or under a pot. Our light comes out while we behave like people who don't respect Jesus. If we live like the world instead of Jesus, we can't teach them how wonderful Jesus is. Even it's tough to turn it off again when we place our light under a bushel. It's impossible to turn around and act like Jesus again once we start being negative and greedy. If our light goes out, we have to go back to Jesus and bring it back to the sun. Would you want to conceal the light under a bushel? No, no!! What do you suggest, let our lights shine for Jesus? RESIST THE DEVIL CONFESSION: Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.[James 4:7-8] The devil will run from us while we live near to Jesus. This is a really significant Bible verse that tells us how we can live the way God wants us to. The Bible teaches us that God needs His commandments to be upheld by us. That’s the way Jesus lived: He always kept God’s commandments. He never disobeyed. The Bible states that Jesus was persuaded by the devil to try and get Him to disobey, but Jesus did not listen to the devil. He still listened to and obeyed his heavenly Father. The devil is trying to get us to disobey God’s commandments too. He still wants to make it seem as if we disobey God's commandment. Thus the devil tempts us to disobey our teachers or parents. In college, he tempts us to lie and to rob and cheat. He tempts us to use evil terms and, in vain, take the name of Heaven. He tempts us, instead of heading to the Sunday Service and worship, to remain home and watch TV on the Sabbath. Every time we turn around, the devil is there with another temptation to disobey God and live like him rather than living like Jesus. This verse in the Bible we're reading this morning teaches us how to get Satan to hide from us, to run away from us, and to leave us alone. All we have to do is to "submit ourselves unto God": to obey Christ instead of the devil. The second thing that we must do is fight the threat: we must say no to the threat and his temptations. So what are we doing? Here's the interesting part: we're moving close to God, and He's coming close to us. We remain true to God by praying that Jesus would be faithful to us and help us do what is good. We fight the devil by asking that Jesus drive him away from us. Watch what happens to the devil and all his temptations when you ask Jesus to be near to you and protect you from the devil and his temptations. Would you want to remain next to Jesus in order for the devil to run away from you? CHILDREN'S BIBLE LESSONS PARABLE OF THE LABORERS Text: (Matthew 19:23 – 20:16) This lesson is based on the Laborers' Parable of Jesus. It was his response when the disciples asked, "Who then can be saved?" "And the question of Peter is what the reward would be for them because they left all to obey Jesus. This lesson was planned for older elementary Sunday school classes, but it could be modified for younger and older students. Following the lesson are additional tools that will help you plan for your class's specific needs. Bible Story: Jesus' Parable of the Laborers Scripture: Matthew 19:23 – 20:16 Memory Verse: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast." {Ephesians 2:8-9] Jesus needed to recognize that God is honest in how He rewards His servants. Jesus finished the parable by saying, "therefore, the last will be first, and the first will be last." Jesus knew that the disciples would be tempted to be proud of Him in their work, and they would feel like the vineyard workers who worked all day. The parable was to show the disciples that God doesn't treat those who worked better than those who began later. He sees them equally important to His Kingdom's work. Knowing this reality should prevent all believers from being proud of how long or how wonderful their work is for God. Just as Jesus told His disciples that redemption is a gift from God to everyone who embraces it, He also wanted them to know that any person who works in His kingdom would be rewarded as God chooses. Our salvation is God's gift, and we did nothing to win it, and that stops us from boasting. The same is true for serving God. Serving God is a blessing and we must serve Him diligently, not believing we are more important than anyone else who serves God differently. No one has won their ticket to heaven and no one has the right to brag about how long they have served God. Every person's job is important to God. HEAVENLY TREASURES…WINNING IN GOD'S EYES Text: (Matthew 20:1-16) Memory Verse: Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, "Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all." [Mark 9:35] God has a distinct notion of wins and defeats. He does not work on the basis of points or on an hourly wage. We can't win Heaven in any way. Probably, nothing we can do can cover our sins and we are forced to rely on the grace of God. God covers everything. He does not weigh our production success or our objectives. He equally loves and serves everyone. He is the only path to Heaven and there can be anyone and everyone who believes Him. This parable was provided by Jesus to illustrate this. He was always defying expectations: We also see Paul the Apostle stressing the importance of placing trust in Christ. We can't brag about our own successes, because they're not enough, and they can't make us whole. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.-[Ephesians 2:8-10] We like winning. Often we want to brag about winning. Mention some of the sports stars known for boasting. What does it look like when they're not doing so well? To maintain the image of perfection, what do they have to do? The Bible stresses that by faith alone, grace arises. It doesn't have anything to do with our behaviour. Only in him can we have faith. The Old Testament also references praise and faith in God alone [Jeremiah 9:23-24] Competition can be fun sometimes, and when we're good at things, it's easy to show it off and let everyone know what we've achieved. But the Bible is clear that our honor is in our citizenship in heaven. No cup, medal or award status would be able to surpass that! FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT Scripture: Galatians 5:22-26; Matthew 22:37-39; 1 Corinthians 13; Colossians 3:12-14; 1 John 3:16-18, 4:7-21 Memory Verse: Galatians 5:22-23, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law." And we will be talking about love today. Let's see what God through His Word will teach us! Together, we want to explore what love looks like for all who have the Spirit of God inside them. Turn to the 22nd chapter of Matthew, verses 37-39. Jesus says, 'Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.'' Jesus name these two commandments the greatest commandments! So love is not only the fruit of the Spirit, it is the command from God. So how do we understand what love looks like? By looking at God, we know what love is. This is said in 1 John 4:7-11, Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another." Chapter 3 verses 16 and 18 state, "Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth." So we know that love comes from God, that God is love, and that God has shown His love to all of us by sending Jesus Christ to die for us, so that we may know Him. We also know from 1 John that love is not only what we say, it is what we do. Jesus has expressed His profound love for us by dying for us. We may show love to one another by putting others first and caring more about them than we do ourselves, by loving them as Christ loves us. Before we can really love others, we need to know and love God. How are we to uphold the greatest commandment, to love God with all our heart, soul , and mind? One of the key ways to love God is to come to know Him more and more through His Word and through prayer. You know that God died for you and for me through His Word! This is expected to cause us to burst with love for Him! When we come to know Him, learn from Him, and listen to His voice, we stay in Him. As we remain in Him and He in us, in our lives the fruit of love is created. THE SHIELD OF FAITH Scripture References: Ephesians 6:11-16 Hebrews 11 1 John 5:4-5 Memory Verse: Ephesians 6:11"Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil." Knights are wearing a lot of armor, aren't they? It doesn't seem like there's any weakness in all that metal, but they still need a shield. No matter how well secured a warrior could seem, there's still a weakness somewhere. All the enemy needs to do is find weakness, and they're going to be able to take the knight down. That's why the warriors are wearing shields. What makes the shield different from the other parts of the weapon? Unlike the other items of armor, the shield is not fixed to a particular portion of your body. The shield will rotate to cover the vulnerabilities of the warrior's armor to prevent the arrows from piercing through. Great warriors know how to use their shields to protect them from danger. We ought to do the same with the Shield of Faith. Why do you think that God is using a shield to represent the faith? Faith includes parts of our lives where we're dealing with sins, or where we really don't know the answer to a question. Hebrews 11 reminds us of people in the Old Testament who had faith in tough circumstances, such as when Abraham and Sarah believed that God would give them a child. When God had fulfilled this vow, he asked Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac. Now think about how you'd feel if you had something you really wanted from God, and then you were ordered to give it back, you couldn't have it anymore? That's exactly what God has asked Abraham to do. But Abraham knew that God was not going to break His word. He had the faith God would pull through. This is because God is still faithful. The shield of faith is not just our faithfulness to God, but also the faithfulness of God to us. When we are faithful, it means that we have every confidence that God will protect us in our war against Satan. The problem is, when we question these things, we're not going to be faithful. This is why God is faithful to us. He's never going to leave us. And though we sin and question God, he's always there to protect us. If we believe that, we're going to pick up the shield of faith. Let's have a sword drill. Read 1 John 5:4-5. These two verses teach us that if we have faith in Jesus Christ and obey Him, we will conquer sin! Shout it out with me. With Jesus, I can WIN AGAINST SIN! THE BATTLE PLAN IS PRAYER Scripture References: Ephesians 6:18 Philippians 4:6 Romans 8:26-28 Matthew 7:7 Memory Verse: Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. [Ephesians 6:11] What's prayer? Prayer is a conversation with God. What are some things for you to pray about? The Bible teaches us that it's all right to pray about anything. Philippians 4:6 states, "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. "How are we going to pray? We pray for the Holy Spirit. The Bible says in Romans 8:26-27, "And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. We don't know , for example, what God wants us to pray for. Yet the Holy Spirit is praying for us with groanings that can not be expressed in words. And the Lord who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit says, for the Spirit pleads with all believers in accordance with the will of God. "This means that the Holy Spirit allows us to pray. If you have asked Jesus Christ to forgive you your sins and to live in your souls, then your prayers will be directed by His Holy Spirit. How are we going to pray? Ephesians 6:18 is asking us to pray all the time. Does that sound like a hard job for you? If we pray all the time, we wouldn't be able to go to school or eat or something, would we? If we're told to pray all the time, that doesn't mean we're going to stop doing anything. It means that we should still think about God and speak to Him. At any time, we can pray for something. Can you think of a few things to pray for and places to pray for? But how can we know that God is here to hear us? We're going to do a sword exercise to find out. Matthew 7:7 says, "Keep asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on searching for it, and you'll find it. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you. "God hears your prayers and answers them. If we pray to God with modesty, we will win sin! Let's finish by saying the verse of our memories with the movements. "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." GOD’S LOVE Scripture references: Luke 15:1-32 John 3:16 Zephaniah 3:17 Matthew 28:19-20 Romans 3:23 The Stories of Lost Things Found God rejoices when people who do not obey Him confess and begin to follow Him. We are poor sinners before we obey God. If we decide to give our lives to God and love and follow Him the best we can, it's like being found. This makes God happy, as we can see from these three stories. In verse 7 of Luke 15, it states, "In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and have not gone astray! "In the next tale, after the woman celebrates the discovery of her missing coin, verse 10 states," In the same way, there is joy in the sight of the angels of God when one sinner repents. We know that God loves us because that is what he tells us in the Bible. Who's remembers John 3:16? It's one of the most popular verses of the Bible. We help people to get to know God, as citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven, and we rejoice when they give their lives to him. THE SHOES OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE Scripture References: Ephesians 6:11-15 1 Peter 3:15 Memory Verse: "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil." [Ephesians 6:11 ] Raise your hand if you're wearing shoes today. Ok, why is that? Of course, today you were wearing shoes so you could run around and not damage your knees. Why do you think the shoes are part of the Armor of God? We are told to brace our feet for the preparation that comes with the Gospel of Peace. What is the Gospel of Peace? The Gospel of Peace is that, for our sins, Jesus came and died on the cross, then rose from the dead and ascended to heaven. This means that we will live a happier life without fear if we believe in Jesus Christ and ask Him to forgive us for our sins. We don't have to think about it because we know we're going to Heaven. Why do you think we're going to have to prepare our feet for this? As warriors of God, our job is to let as many people know about the Gospel as we can. We can do this by educating them about the ABC 's redemption. What are the ABCs of salvation? "A" means that you agree that you are a sinner and that you need someone to get you out of your sins. "B" means that you believe that Jesus Christ has died for all your sins and wishes you to serve Him for the rest of your life and to go to Heaven someday. "C" means that you confess your sins to Jesus and ask Him to come into your heart and forgive your sins. If you haven't done this in your own life, how can you teach other people how to do it? If we say we love Jesus, we need to act like we love Jesus. We're going to need to take the walk. Imagine this: if you were playing basketball with someone and they said they could slam dunk, you'd like to see it, right? What if they kept promising that they could slam dunk, but then they never did? Do you really think they should slam dunk? It's definitely not. If you were shown a slam dunk, then you will trust them. Being a Christian is similar to when we say that we love Jesus, but then we don't behave like that, then we don't love him . The shoes of the Gospel of Peace make us remember to follow Jesus. When we follow Jesus and do what he wants us to do, we can not follow Satan, and we can not do what Satan wants us to do. It is best to put on the shoes of the Gospel of Peace every day, so that we can teach others about Jesus and keep us from pursuing Satan. How are we going to put on the shoes of the Gospel of Peace? Ephesians 6:15 states that we "put on the readiness that comes with the gospel of goodwill." This implies that we must be able to teach people about Jesus. 1 Peter 3:15 shows us how to do it. FAITHFULNESS (FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT) Scriptural Reading: Galatians 5:22-23,Psalm 86:15,1 Samuel 12:24 Memory Verse: Only fear the Lord, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you. [1 Samuel 12:24] The faithfulness of God endures to all generations. This implies that it's not just for your parents or grandparents. God has been faithful to your great grandparents, to your great great grandparents, and to you, to your daughters, to your grandchildren, to your great grandchildren, to your great great grandchildren! iFor all centuries, past, present and future, the faithfulness of God is still the same! We know that the faithfulness of God is to all generations, so what is this verse asking us to do? As God's people, let's teach others about God, His faithfulness, using our mouths!(Teach all generations about His faithfulness! So the Bible teaches us that faithfulness, as we abide in Christ, is part of who we are. What does it teach us about faithfulness in this verse? What do you think faithfulness means to "befriend"? (Allow their thoughts time.) You have to spend time and energy making the relationship grow when you make a new friend. You have a friendship to nurture, just as you would grow a plant. Among ourselves, we must practice faithfulness. This means being faithful to your family, your friends, and to our God deliberately. This also means praying to overflow in your heart for faithfulness, learning faithfulness in the Scriptures, and getting to know our faithful God who is our only perfect example of loyalty! SELF-CONTROL(FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT) Memory Verse: Proverbs 25:28, "A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls." Scriptural Reading: Matthew 4:1-11. Self-control is in charge of your emotions, actions, and thoughts. So, essentially, getting self-control is making you do something that isn't easy, or do something that you really don't want to do. It's showing compassion to someone who only hurt your feelings. It's obeying your mom right away when she asks you to clean your room instead of arguing. It waits patiently for something, even though you want it to be really bad, because you know something bigger is going to happen. We have to remember that self-control is almost always very difficult! As a human who has never sinned, Jesus exercised self-control completely! He is our model, just like any other Fruit of the Spirit. A lot of times self-control goes beyond just making us do what is right and healthy. It also includes battling the urge or the temptation to sin. The Bible, our source of truth, offers an example of this! Let's read together Matthew 4:1-11. In this passage, Satan himself appears to Jesus and tempts Him three times. Each time, Jesus exercises self-control and does not sin. THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT [PATIENCE] Memory Verse: "Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting." 1 [Timothy 1:16] Scriptural Reading: Galatians 5:22-23 The Bible inform us in this verse that patience is the fruit of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is alive inside us as we are baptized, and we must be careful. This doesn't mean we're going to be careful all the time! But as we read more and more about God, we're evolving. Patience becomes part of the sort of person that we are. He offers the strength to be gentle with the Spirit living within us. Proverbs 19:11 tells us that a wise man is patient. When they're wronged, they patiently forgive the individual. Even, sometimes it's hard to be patient, but Colossians 1:11 teaches us that the mighty power of God gives us strength to be patient. God not only gives us power to be patient, but He also teaches us how to be patient. Second Peter 3:15 states that Jesus is waiting patiently to come back to earth, so that all people can have a chance to know Him and be saved (in context). So, God is generous with all of us in a general way, but also in a very particular way with each of us. In I Timothy 1:16 Paul says he was shown compassion, so that the perfect patience of God can be shown. Paul, like all of us, didn't deserve to be spared. He had disappointed God a lot over and over again, but God was gentle with him and always saved him. LORD'S PRAYER LESSON Scripture references: Matthew 6:5-14, Ecclesiastes 5:2, 1 John 5:14, Philippians 4:6-7 What is Prayer? Prayer is talking to God the Father by the influence of the Holy Spirit. Today , we are going to read the Lord's prayer. The prayer of the Lord is what we call the prayer that Jesus taught his disciples when they asked him to show them how to pray. Before we talk about prayer, we need to address what IS prayer? What does it mean to pray? Prayer is speaking to God the Lord, through Jesus Christ the Son, through the power of the Holy Spirit. Now I know that's a bit of a mouthful, so we're going to spend the rest of the class talking about what that means. When we talk to God, we don't have to talk to a lot of people in between, and we never get mixed up or clogged. The Bible states, "You know what I will say before I say it, Lord" (Psalm 139:4). God knows what we're going to say before we say it! Isn't it wonderful to know that God knows every thought of us? God is like a father who takes good care of his children. Good fathers know what their children need and give it to them. Oh, God is the best father.
